I think J.J. Abrams hates moms or he would never kill Spock's mom.

There was a rumor a couple of years ago that a new Stargate movie was being made as a sequel to the  Original movie from 1994.  I guess that died off.

I think SGU had potential, but the bean counters didn't think so.

Read your article and thought it was wonderful!  I don't see ANY reason why a disabled person couldn't BE the hero....BE the heavy hitter....BE the lover....... 

Sadly, the Hollyweird idea of perfection is very flawed and downright destructive to the average person.  Just once I wish a REAL person with REAL challenges could shine on the big screen.  It would be a refreshing change from the typical stereotype.

I'd love to see the second season erased and for 'Jericho' to pick up after the first season. Either way, I'd love another season or two.

It would be interesting to see if the aerodynamics would be feasible. Especially today with all the lightweight composite materials.

I'm hoping that if JJA needs to use a classic character, he put him/her in a new situation.  After all, I saw "Space Seed" already decades ago.  I sure don't want to pay ten dollars to see it again. 

Something that just dawned on me ... I wonder if Paramount feels there needs to be some sort of trademark protection on the Khan name.  That's why you see The Silver Surfer in Tomb of Dracula #50.  Someone needs to ask Abrams that because I cannot believe that someone who's taken as my fancrap as he has wakes up and asks himself, "I wonder what character I can bring back to cheese off the punditocracy." 

I will now officially refer to J.J.'s monstrosity as 'Star Track' which, as we know, has nothing to do with 'Star TREK'.

I am only guessing that it's 'Space Seed' that's being ripped off. TWOK would be too far along in the timeline. Of course, I understand that this IS a new timeline, so I guess it could be a coin toss. Either way, I still find it...amusing...that ol' J.J. is relying on a TOS character to make a new movie, especially when he wants his Track to be different than what has gone before. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Many, many fans are always going to disagree on this. Personally, I'd rather have no more Trek than live in J.Jverse.

(and I take offense to the grade skool level comment, LOL).

But I will agree that I wish another villain could be created.  I'd rather the new films borrow less from the original (which makes it even LESS like the original ... what a dilemma).  Then again, I thought nobody captured The Joker quite like Caesar Romero but Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger did okay with the role so what do I know?  

But do we know the new movie is ripping off "Space Seed" or Wrath of Khan?  Has anyone seen a link to a script?  Just the same, remember how deadly slow the first ST film was (at least the 5th film moved)?  Aside from being a darned tightly written and directed story, Wrath of Khan was a quantum leap in quality over the first film.  Now if THAT was to happen again, that would rock!

I find it less exciting than most that we are getting yet ANOTHER remake. A movie version of 'Space Seed', basically. Oh yes, I am sure there will be some 'new take' on the whole thing, great graphics, lots of action, etc.

However, it's been done. I think this is, at best, a slap together movie. A new movie was needed, and soon. So, they focused on Khan, probably the greatest villain Kirk and crew ever faced. Add to that the fact that TWOK turns 30 years old this year. Gee, what better way to capitalize on that then writing a Khan movie. Sheer genius, J.J.

You have to remember, J.J. admittedly DOES NOT GET STAR TREK (or would he say TRACK?). I think it shows in the in the fact that he decided to just pluck a story from the old episodes of TOS. Unimaginative, since he wanted to take TRACK in new direction. Great way to do it...ripping off an old episode. I'd even say uninspired.

I have seen EVERY Trek movie in the theater. This is going to end up being the first one that I will not see. I highly doubt that I will even see it on DVD, tv or anywhere else. I won't ruin my love for TWOK (THE greatest of the Trek movies) with this nonsense.

J.J. himself said of the first one (and I am paraphrasing here, but you get the idea), "If you are a fan of the old series, you probably won't like this movie". You were right, J.J. I think it was intended that way.

Well, that's MY opinion. I'll get off of my soapbox now.

I was kinda hoping JJA wouldn't revive Khan quite yet (and as good as Cumberbatch is, he's got HUGE shoes to fill ... shoes made of "rich Corinthian leather"). 

Also, on Bleeding Cool this morning, it's been said that Classic Spock will be back in the sequel (Leonard Nimoy's scenes have already been shot).and we will see the Klingons.  I'm looking forward to this too.

Also, I don't see a problem with continuing the real timeline with another TV show or even a new movie. I don't see why both HAVE to compete. True Trekkies will eat it ALL up. Bring back the Shat!! Bring back Patrick Stuart, Brooks, Melgrew, and Bacula. I really want to see a movie where they are all together for one big story line. Bring back Branon Braga for this and Rick Berman.

Well besides wanting to see Kahn again, this is how I feel. 

We can hope at the end the Enterprise ends up in the Genesis nebula and doesn't't escape rematrixing.

I am sure it will be a good action/adventure movie but hardly a new Trek.

The whole direction new 'trek' is taking makes me vomit.  However, my vomit went from dry heaves to projectile when this news broke. 

Just when you thought JJ couldn't screw it up any worse.......

(and, as always, I completely respect everyone's right to like or dislike things.....this is just my personal opinion)
